Nastasja website;
sundry visitors our desert house.

First picture below is a Praying Mantus high on the wall in the living room. 2005-09-18

Next pictures are of a tarantula; we named it Zoe :-)

Zoe is a predatory ground arachnid (spider) that hunts its prey on foot, using silk not for webs, but to make cocoons for eggs or entrap captured prey for eating later. Zoe really cut down the noisy nighttime crickets in the house!

Tarantula shots are from 2005-07-09

A baby rabbit came into our house. First we thought it was a small rat or a big mouse - but it turned out to be a cute brown bunny. After segregating Felicity, we caught it in a box and released it outside.

A baby quail came in too. Kimlou and Nastasja brought it to the wildlife rescue center as it was hurt. It instantly stopped crying and fell asleep in the wildlife rescue center lady's hand.

There is a neighborhood cat too. Nastasja calls it "The Winner." The Winner always tries to play with Felicity, but Felicity just hisses at her. "The Winner" always came around when we first moved in, came in the house and ate Felicity's food and used her litter box. For many months she did not visit (maybe 'cause Daddy sprayed her with water enough times.) Early August she was back, with a bell and collar - same interaction with Felicity, and now she came in the cat-door too...

There was a very friendly spider in our bathroom. Not easily startled and kept us company in the bathroom.

Below are two shots of Zachary the Lizard. We think he ate the spider. Kind of a fun critter, good runner, brought back stories of the Philippines from Kimlou. We guided him to the back yard door and he quickly disappeared among the sports equipment clutter behind the old spider webs. Might be a Canyon Spotted Whiptail - here are all the Arizona Lizards.
